  • Job Description
  • JOB SUMMARY
  • Drafts, reviews, analyses, negotiates and processes contracts and related documents for all facility construction, A&E design, consultant, and similar services using the NEC and JCT library of contracts and other bespoke forms of agreement to ensure accuracy for operational/project teams in accordance with the contracts policies and procedures and all applicable Universal Creative systems. Work in conjunction with Legal, Risk Management, Project Management (PMO) and Finance departments.
  • JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (% of time)
  • Assists with pre-qualification of bidders and securing of confidentiality agreements. Participates in the expressions of interest (EOI) phase, pre qualification questionnaires (PQQ), invitations to tender (ITTs), requests for proposals (RFPs), invitation for bid (IFBs) and routes for approvals before issuance to bidders. Includes preparation, review and issuance of addenda to bidders. Assists project team with bidder review and selection of successful bidder. Prepares appropriate form, including all addenda items, and assist with negotiation of Terms & Conditions in a form consistent with partnership policies and procedures - 20%
  • Drafts NEC/JCT agreements, change orders, other bespoke forms of agreement for A&E, construction and consultant scopes of work. Verifies insurance coverage, vendor qualification, and prepares pre-construction agreements, novation agreement, and collateral warranties as required. Coordinates with successful bidder for execution of final contract - 40%
  • Attends weekly/monthly project (construction, etc.) meetings. Prepares and issues contract change orders and other documentation in accordance with the form of agreement. Issues/maintains contract status reports for reporting to senior leadership. Maintains contract electronic files, document control, and retention of files. Monitors delay events, and similar claims - 20%
  • Prepares and issues close out documentation. Assists with claims administration. Ensures compliance of contractual obligations and that partnership policies and procedures/internal controls are followed in all transaction related to this role - 20%
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

  • Construction experience related to contracting in the JCT and NEC contracting forms highly desired.

  • EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • EXPERIENCE
  • Contract experience in drafting, analysing, amending and negotiating contracts required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience and knowledge of the JCT and NEC forms of contract is preferred.
  • Excellent contract writing skills required. Writing sample required.
