Job Description: The Administrative Coordinator provides essential administrative and operational support across multiple areas, including course management for Principles of Economics (Econ 0110), faculty and graduate student expense administration, and dedicated support for assigned faculty. This role is critical to the smooth delivery of Principles of Economics (the department’s foundational course for the concentration) while also providing financial processing support as well as assisting faculty with research and project coordination. The coordinator operates with a high degree of independence and collaborates closely with faculty, graduate students, administrative leadership, and university departments to meet academic and financial goals. The position also supports ad-hoc department projects assigned by the Academic Department Manager (ADM) and maintains a comprehensive understanding of departmental operations in support of the department’s teaching and research mission. Education and Experience Associates degree and 3 years related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills. Proficiency in office technologies and web-based applications as well as experience with or strong interest in teaching and learning technologies. Proficient with Microsoft Office i.e., computing proficiency with advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database skills, e-mail and web searching skills. Familiarity with platforms Canvas, Courses @Brown (CAB), Cognos, piazza, Mindtap, Mindlink, Google Workspace, Desktop publishing tools such as Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator preferred. Discretion with confidential information with sound judgment and follow-through. Must be able to effectively prioritize assigned work against multiple deadlines and have the capacity to respond and adapt to last-minute changes. Must be a quick learner, self-starter and possess a strong commitment to continuous process improvement. The incumbent must be able to adapt to fluctuations in workload. Additional physical demands and working conditions: The incumbent will be expected to attend the annual Commencement ceremony which is held in May. Why Brown?
