  • We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee and manage the full accounts payable function, ensuring accurate processing, strong controls, and timely payments. This role works closely with Finance, Payroll, and the wider business, playing a key part in cash flow management, reconciliations, and month-end preparation.
  • This is a 12 month maternity cover contract, starting in April 2026.
  • Job Description

As the AP Manager at Utility Warehouse, your key responsibilities will include

  • End-to-End AP & Banking Oversight: Lead the daily bank reconciliation process, managing international payments, intercompany transfers, and vendor bank detail verification with meticulous accuracy.
  • Strategic Cash Management: Drive cash flow forecasting and aging control, ensuring payment runs are optimized and balance sheet schedules are audit-ready.
  • Process Excellence & Expenses: Own the full employee expense lifecycle—from VAT compliance to system housekeeping—ensuring seamless reimbursements and query resolution.
  • Financial Control & Reporting: Manage purchase order integrity, accruals, and complex vendor reconciliations (including major utility accounts) to ensure month-end precision.
  • Compliance & Payroll Support: Partner with Finance to facilitate statutory payments (PAYE, SAYE, VAT) and resolve suspense or indemnity items promptly.
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of escalation for AP queries, while mentoring the team through weekly 1:1s and professional development.
  • Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need to demonstrate these key experiences, skills and competencies

  • Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Manager in a large organisation. FTSE 250 + would be highly beneficial
  • Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations, cash flow, and balance sheet processes.
  • Experience working with integrated finance systems (Netsuite)
  • Confident handling payroll-related reconciliations and statutory payments
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Proficient in use of Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise work when needed.
  • Time and diary management is key.
