Key Responsibilities:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your role will be instrumental in the inclusion and positive development of pupils. Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering academic and therapeutic interventions in literacy, numeracy, and social skills to pupils with SEND.

• Providing a secure and consistent adult presence, acting as a mentor to help pupils develop better coping and self-regulation skills.

• Working closely with the class teacher to adapt activities and manage transitions, ensuring the pupil remains engaged and on task.

• Confidently implementing positive behaviour management techniques and being skilled in basic de-escalation strategies.

• Liaising effectively with parents, the SENCO, and outside agencies to ensure a consistent support network for the child.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

• Demonstrable experience supporting children with SEND, particularly SEMH or challenging behaviour, in an educational setting.

• A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable, or you must have significant, relevant experience.

• An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).

• The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.

• A resilient, patient, and highly adaptable nature.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Training in de-escalation (such as Team Teach) is highly advantageous.
