We are seeking a developer or small studio to build the first version of Barakah, a peaceful, nature-inspired mobile app that helps users discover every masjid and every Muslim-owned business in their local area. The app will present these locations on a soft, illustrated world map, filled with gentle colours, nature elements, and Islamic-inspired light (nūr). Barakah is intended to feel spiritually uplifting, visually calming, and emotionally meaningful. It is a digital map of the ummah, created with intention and excellence. We are looking for someone who cares deeply about world-building, beauty, and purpose-driven design. 🌙 The Vision Barakah should feel like a serene illustrated world. The style takes inspiration from the gentle atmosphere of Animal Crossing and the spiritual aesthetics of Islamic concepts such as nūr, barakah, and calm symmetry. The app must feel peaceful, warm, and full of subtle life — drifting clouds, soft earth tones, natural textures. Every masjid appears with a warm golden glow. Every Muslim-owned business appears with a soft teal-white glow. These glows represent barakah and goodness rather than ratings or competition. The entire experience centres on one map screen. Users explore, tap, and read stories in a calm, uncluttered interface that feels like stepping into a tranquil village filled with light. 📱 Core MVP Features (Executed with Quality) The main interface is a stylised, nature-inspired map with custom colours, soft shapes, and a wholesome illustrated feel. The glow system brings the map to life: masjids emit a warm gold light; Muslim-owned businesses have a gentle teal-white aura; businesses known for helping the community may earn a brighter glow over time. When a user taps a glowing pin, a refined bottom sheet opens showing the business name, distance, open/closed status, a small category icon, and a short two-to-three line owner story. A “View Full Story” option reveals a full business or masjid profile with photos, a longer narrative, and essential details such as address, directions and contact information. A simple prayer-time bar appears at the bottom of the screen saying something like: “Next prayer: Maghrib in 18 minutes”. Tapping it opens a soft sky-themed modal with the day’s prayer times. A small set of illustrated filter icons appears at the top of the map for categories such as Masjids, Food, Barbers, Tutors, Trades, Fashion, Health, and General Muslim-Owned. Tapping an icon gently toggles that category on or off. Users may optionally save favourite locations, which then appear with a slightly brighter glow within their personalised “Nūr Map”. 🔧 Technical Requirements The ideal developer will be comfortable with Flutter (preferred) or React Native, and able to build smooth transitions, custom map styling, and soft animated touches. Experience with Mapbox or Google Maps custom styling is essential. A Firebase or Supabase backend is suitable for the MVP. The project requires attention to detail, as the visual identity is central. Even though the MVP is functionally simple, the execution should feel polished, thoughtful, and spiritually resonant. 🎨 Design Requirements We will provide visual direction including moodboards, palettes, references for glow styles, and icon inspirations.
